Identifying stinkbugs

Stink bugs are smelly greyish-brown colored bugs with six legs and two antennas.

They stretch about a quarter of an inch and are shaped in a triangular form that resembles an oval shape or the look of a shield. When stepped on, these invasive foreign species give off an odor that is pungent and highly distinguished.

When they swarm

Most times, stink bugs only come in the late summer months or when outside temperatures begin to drop, according to Pestworld, the official website of the National Pest Management Association.

They were first introduced to the United States in Allentown, Pennsylvania, during the mid-1990s. They are normally found in Eastern Asia countries such as China, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. Stink bugs also make an appearance in the spring as hibernating bugs in attic rafters or eaves attempt to make their way back outdoors.
